Education
KCUA’s Education and Training department offers an array of training products and support to help you meet your credit union’s training goals and needs.
Seminars and Conferences:
Seminars and conferences provide high-quality training to prepare your staff and volunteers to meet their job requirements. Every year, credit union managers, staff and volunteers can select from a variety of credit union specific seminars and conferences. Refer to the education calendar for a listing of this year\'s seminars and conferences.
Audio/Web Conferences:
Audio/Web conferencing is a convenient and cost-effective way to train an unlimited number of staff. These 120-minute training sessions are delivered via telephone and Internet right to the comfort of your credit union office. The programs are archived on a CD-ROM to provide on-demand training to as many staff, as often as you want, for one low price! Pricing is tiered by asset size and package pricing is available for pre-registering for multiple programs.
Quick Bite Telephone Conferences:
Quick Bite Telephone conferencing provides another convenient and cost-effective way to train an unlimited number of staff. These 60-minute telephone conferences are a fast, effective way to deliver training to front-line staff. New for 2006, a 30-day audio archive of the programs will be available to provide on-demand training to as many staff, as often as you want, for one low price! Pricing is tiered by asset size.
Customized In-house Training:
No matter how many people your credit union employs, it can be costly and inconvenient to always seek training and educational opportunities outside the credit union. As budgets in all areas of the credit union tighten, options for cost-effective training are more important than ever. Our regional and in-house training will allow more of your employees to attend training without the travel time and added expense of outside training.
National Certificate Programs:
A cost-effective supplement to KCUA’s seminars and conferences is the National Certificate Programs. These programs are designed to provide staff, supervisors, managers and volunteers with a self-study course tailored to their specific job. Each program consists of courses that make up a track, and upon successful completion of a course and exam, certification is earned. All exams are available on-line for added cost savings. In addition, several courses are recommended for college credit for students who pass a proctored, college-level exam.
Certified Executive Program:
If you’re a self-starter who is motivated to rise about the crowd, the Certified Executive Program is a perfect fit for you and your professional goals. The program’s self-study, college-level courses put you in charge of your future.
Certified Executive Program courses lead to the Certified Credit Union Executive (CCUE) designation, the Certified Financial Services Professional (CFSP) designation, and five Specialty Certifications in lending, marketing, financial management, human resources, and compliance.
The American Council on Education (ACE) recommends all CEP courses for college credit. As a result, you’ll likely be able to earn college credit while you advance your career. And, if you already have college credits from previous degree programs, you may already be on your way to fulfilling some of CEP’s educational requirements.
Regulatory Training and Certification (RegTraC):
These self-study, compliance training courses are designed to meet the needs of all credit union staff. Written in practical, easy-to-understand language, RegTraC provides the guidance and tools necessary to keep your staff up to speed on changing regulatory requirements.
RegTraC Level 1 is written for credit union non-compliance staff, including member service representatives, directors and others who need a general overview of the laws and regulations affecting credit unions. RegTraC Level 1 is available in hard copy modules and online courses. An Achievement Certificate is awarded for each exam passed. After successfully completing all five exams, Level 1 students receive the Compliance Achievement Award.
RegTraC Level 2 is for anyone who wants a detailed look at the laws and regulations affecting credit unions, including compliance professionals and staff directly responsible for credit union compliance. RegTraC level 2 is available two ways:
§ The six-volume hardcopy set doubles as a comprehensive compliance manual
§ Downloadable PDFs of all six Level 2 modules
Successful completion of Level 2 proctored exams earns the Compliance Expert Certification and designation s a CUCE (Credit Union Compliance Expert.)
Training Needs Assessment:
Do you constantly get bombarded with training and seminar brochures? Is it a challenge to determine who and where to spend your training dollars? The education and training department has a solution for you. We can come into your credit union and conduct training needs assessment. Through this process, you can identify the areas to assess for each job position, rate the job need level and ability level for each job position, identify critical, non-critical and professional development training needs, and complete a training plan.
CUNA CPDOnline:
Career pathing and core competency training are the keys to better service for your credit union. CPDOnline enables your staff to examine competency profiles and assess the skill training they need to achieve success.
With course content derived from the competencies needed for each position profile, CPDOnline makes it easy for your staff to take charge and move forward with their career path of choice.
CPDOnline offers more than 115 CU Advance, STAR, RegTraC, MERIT and VAP courses. The Learning Management System shows employee transcripts at the click of a button, plus additional report functions are available for credit union administrators. And now, you can add non-CUNA course information to student transcripts.
CU Advance:
Each CU Advance learning module consists of 5-6 courses. Each course is designed to provide 15-20 minutes of optimum learning enjoyment. This unique approach to self-study education allows learners to take a pre-test for each module and then based on the results, they can take the recommended courses or skip to the final exam. After completing the courses and the final exams, learners receive credit.
Courses will incorporate a variety of delivery channels including print, audio, video, web and instructor-led. Each course allows learners to take modules in any order, complete pre-testing or course review material online and test out of courses by proceeding directly to the final exam.
The content of the courses is derived from the competencies outlined for each position profile. The competencies are built to help learners move toward the career path of their choice within the credit union system.
